Ramblings. In tweet language.

Today was simple. I had a photoshoot this morning that was close to 4 hours long. I don’t dread shoots no matter how tired I’m feeling because I truly madly deeply love the people I’m spending the time with.
I was really really sad that I missed my cousin’s farewell lunch. Was rushing like a mad woman just so that I could make it, even if it was just for half of it but I guess time just didn’t permit. Well, at least I got to see her at the airport right before her departure! Going to miss you @keykwangisb2st :( (((
Really hate that everyone’s leaving. Another cousin’s flying off soon. And two more flying back to UK/US respectively! Literally no one left :/
I wish I could be flying all over the place too. Once told my mom that I wanted to be a “global citizen”. But I guess I’m just tied down by so many things here. This place is still home to me. For now.
Had a super long ridiculous skype call with @JonathanRaedeke this afternoon. We were planning our end of the year trip and we started having a twitter war.
Since my twitter is private, here are some tweets worth sharing. Just look at how different the both of us are.
CITY GIRL vs. pseudo COUNTRY BOY (actually he’s just a #confusedkid123– in between both)
melisapro: Discussing our safari trip to africa and @jonathanraedeke said, “they’ll serve delicious breakfast like ostrich eggs and zebra meat” omg!
(I really don’t know what he’s thinking! If he can deal eating animals in the wild, I really wonder why he can’t deal with durian. But I guess he’s slowly acquiring that taste :) )
jonathanraedeke: Talking about safari trip with @melisapro, and she just started doubting the trip. Not because of lions, not danger! But because it’s hot!
melisapro: Canoeing down zimbabwe river sounds really cool:) but the not under the heat! Save me!! And how about wifi? Is there wifi? @jonathanraedeke
melisapro: Ok I accept if they dont have wifi but at least electricity? @jonathanraedeke Okay this kinda holiday is a little too exotic but exciting
melisapro: @jonathanraedeke says he feels the same sensation about Africa as I do about NYC! Please explain :)
jonathanraedeke: Me: every morning in Africa, I’d wake to the sounds of animals. So amazing! Melissa: every morning in NY, I’d wake to the sounds of taxi!
melisapro: @jonathanraedeke the sound of horning taxis is music to my ears.
melisapro: @jonathanraedeke i said I’d go to Africa with you but with a NYC mindset. luggage bag with 1000 pairs of shoes, clothes and accessories

Oh how i wish i could be right there right now. I wake up every morning wishing for that.
New York City. Broadway. Bright lights.
Good night :)

Travelogue: New York City, Day 5

We started the day late again. Felt horrible about it because it was our last day in New York City and there was just so much that I listed in my itinerary not done. My favourite boy was saying that I’m such a type A person, always stressed out and in need to be productive and on-the-go whereas he on the contrary was the direect opposite. Laid back as everrrrrr. He loves taking things slow. :) But then later on in Mexico, he switched to being Type A, and me Type B. But I must say, I was a really cooperative Type B! Woke up at around 10am on most days, and I was really happy too! Will blog about my Mexico trip when I’m done with this. But whether Type A/Type B, I love my favourite boy the same.

We wanted to catch some texas BBQ that night we spent with Bryant but because it was closed we settled for Korean food in Ktown. I looked up online this place that my ex-colleague, Victor, showed me during my internship last year. This restaurant does bring back a whole load of great memories. DBS Vickers office in New York City is small, not in terms of physical space. And we were a really close knitted bunch. Lunch on some occasions was in the meeting room, and we would call in texas BBQ and grills to share among ourselves. I really enjoyed my internship tremendously. It was a real fantastic experience.

So anyway, back to the food! Look at the pulled meat. It’s almost like carnivore except not overpriced and 349028423 times yummier. Meat lovers, this will be your haven. You could choose between moist and dry. Moist is the BEST choice. Dry is for the weight-watchers. :) Ribs, chicken drumsticks, everything we had on our plate.

our sides were mashed sweet potatoes and beans.

Headed to rockafella centre thereafter and it was indeed very breathtaking.

It was a pity that it was raining. :( Had to buy an umbrella because we didn’t want to soak in the cold.

St Patricks Cathedral was awe-inspiring as usual. I have a thing for Cathedrals. The architecture always impresses me. Wonder if there’ll ever be any more new ones built.

Headed towards the 6 train a 51st street. again, it brought back many fond memories for me. the station nearest to my office. Not impressive, but I do remember the exact route I’d take to my office from there. And all the best places for lunch around that area.

And this would be the exact place I’d meet Huixiang every day after work. He’ll either be waiting for me there or vice versa. But usually he’s the one waiting cos I always end after him. OMG GOOD TIMES. And we’d always be looking forward to dinner plans. Some days, I’d cook dinner for everyone at home, on days I’ve ballet, we’d eat out or they’d wait for me to finish ballet before dinner near our place. On some special occasions, we’d organize dinner at a restaurant we’re all dying to try. But no matter what, it always ends at PINKBERRY! :)

Headed back downtown to La Esquina for dinner. We couldn’t get enough. I was delighted to be back in SoHo so it gave me a chance to grab another round of Pinkberry. I know, pinkberry pinkberry pinkberry. I love it whole-heartedly!

Anyway, if you’re wondering where I got that colourful rainbow top from in my photos above (beneath the white sweater), here you go– CLOSETMATTERZ! This is not my first advertorial for them, and I must say that the bring in quality pieces always!

Wore a few layers under that top to keep warm in New York but alone as it is in Singapore! Wore that out on a casual day for a shoot :) It was so easy to match because of it’s multi-colour. And this is a real pretty piece, it’s cut is not too baggy so you don’t have to worry about looking overweight in it. Pardon the glasses and all, I just got out of my car :/

Another one I kept is this dress. It was a little big on me, but with the belt it was perfect! And in fact, all the extra cloth at the bottom gave it a really nice flare.

Pretty prissybaby in it, check it out:

Last but not least, I wanna share with you the cheongsam that they’ve launched previously because it’s so gorgeous!

I think they’re all sold out already! Sorry if I didn’t share it earlier :( You just gotta keep checking Closetmatterz constantly for updates and new launches so you don’t miss anything good!

Travelogue: New York City, Day 4

Day 4 was the ONLY single day we woke up before 10am. In fact, just slightly before 10. So we managed to get out early for a good breakfast :)

my fav boy is totally not a morning person. his pace is slowed down by about 5 times his usual speed in the morning and he hates it when I rush him. but he was a darling that morning! ♥♥♥♥♥

decided to stop by some random deli for breakfast because we wanted to be adventurous. WRONG IDEA!!! because there were other places on my to-go-list that we missed out eventually. shouldn’t have wasted the opportunity because the bagel i ordered was just no good.

Accidentally passed by Papaya Dog so we decided to stop by and try it because we heard some good raves about it from family and friends. Glad we tried it because it was good, indeed. Was really filled because we had that right after our breakfast.

broadway! what an artsy fartsy photo right :) credits to yours truly.

found a kick ass jewelry shop along broadway! i went nuts (kinda).

evidence.

i deliberately planned shopping on the 26th to take advantage of boxing day sales. it wasn’t anything spectacular but some good deals here and there.

Stopped by at La Esquina for a quite bite before meeting Bryant for dinner. I know, it’s many many meals a day because I’m such a foodie. Jon and I decided to share a plate but it certainly filled us up. Could not get enough MEXICAN food. I’m so in love.

After La Esquina, it was CHEESECAKE! I know i’m bragging about Eileen’s Cheesecake NOT for the first time. I always have to stop by if I’m in the area. Or better still, plan my day around that area just so I can stop by. I can’t describe enough how much I love the cheesecakes there. They’re not too heavy but really light and fluffy. The crusts go so perfectly well with whichever combination you pick. I.e. banana/oreo chocolate/blueberries/strawberries. I can go on and on about them forever.
My favourite boy didn’t have any because he was so filled. I was too, but I just had to eat it because I was there.

Dinner was pretty amazing. We had deep serious conversations about the need for foreign workers in Singapore. All agreed that they were vital. :) In such circumstances, I wish my little brother could sit in. He’d be so interested to listen and learn. He’s such a learner (can’t call him a nerd anymore cos its a sensitive word). Learnt that he got nominated to be a prefect in his school. Well, good for him.

Oysters, fresh catch of the day. YUMS.

The dinner ended with a complimentary chocolate mousse which was pretty good. Things they do to gain your favour, I love it. :) I am very pleased with services in almost every single restaurant we’ve been to. I really believe the whole tipping thing really improves efficiency and quality of service. I’m not criticizing the level of service in Singapore here. Some places have really top-notch service standards but some are really really bad. There’s just no consistency. Don’t you agree?

the last pink berry for bryant. I got my cup of Pinkberry for free because I didn’t have small change :) Just like how they gave me starbucks for free too. I honestly only had a 100 dollar bill and my fav boy doesn’t carry cash with him. He’s the big man with credit cards. He buys big things not small nitty gritty pink berry shit. haha.
By this time, I was bursting. My tummy was literally pushing out of my pants but thank god for the thick sweaters to hide it all.

It was bryant’s LAST day in New York City and I completely understand all the emotions he’s going through. It was the exact same thing I went through on my last day here. Had to just sit at times square and breathe in the sights and sounds of NYC. Amazingggggly sad to leave your favourite city in the world. I can comprehend that.

We did eventually head to Time Square but before we did, Bryant brought us to this rooftop bar in a hotel with an amazing view of the city. I’m soooooo glad we went there because the view was just breathtaking.

Our conversations over drinks revolved strongly around our dreams. It’s wonderful how you’re allowed to dream big there. No matter how ridiculous and far-reaching they may sound, it’s beautiful to have big dreams and to share it with someone. If I told someone that I wanted to be a FULL TIME BUSINESS LADY ELITE walking down wall street and at the same time a night part-time broadway show dancer or a part of nutcracker or a broadway dance, I’d most likely be laughed at. I know, I always fill my plate. Bite off more than what I can chew. I wanna do a million billion things all at once. I love the stress and vigor of such a lifestyle. It gives you energy and keeps you going, ironically. Bryant wants to open a restaurant on his own. That’s amazing. :)
I later moved to the thought of opening up a YA KUN KAYA TOAST (or something similar) in Times Square simply because of the lack of some good ol’ local KOPI O/TEH and TOASTS there. Okay, don’t judge.

So we walked down to Times Square finally. It was already past midnight. We got to the top of the red stairs where I met Bryant on the previous day. I hope these stairs will always be there because they hold great meaning for me.

somehow wish I had done a shoulder stand there. miss cheer a lot:(

I was freezing in my toes. Changed out of my boots because my feet were so sore, and it was more convenient to try on shoes without boots. We stopped by American Eagle and F21. I know right, past midnight and they were not closed. They close at 2am in the morning. How awesome.

We decided to head to Ktown for supper after that! Was craving for some nice warm oxen soup. :) I’m reallllly sorry fav boy, that the place I had chosen didn’t have ginseng chicken soup. :’(

He ended up ordering Bibimbap. I know what it is like to be excited about food then disappointed. Anyway, that was our gazillion(th) meal that day but it was still good. I remember the last time I sat in that exact same restaurant drinking soup was with HX, Mich, Mike, Kelv, Grace and all after karaoke across the street. It is very good comfort food after an overdose of alcohol.

It was such a great evening, i was sad for Bryant that he was leaving. :(

Anyway, I don’t want to end this post on such a sad note. Have been wanting to share with everyone about my 2012 diary since the longest time ever, and I guess I finally found a good opportunity to do so.
So happy when I received the mail from http://shesprees.livejournal.com/ :)
I almost wanted to get this but I guess it has less meaning for me. So I stuck with the NEW YORK CITY one eventually:)

It’s super duper pretty don’t you agree?
I was absolutely spoilt for choice!
These plain sweet looking ones also caught my attention:

GORGEOUS!
Really wish I had found the study versions earlier when I was still in school because I would have totally gotten this for myself. I’m a super diary person. I love notebooks, memo pads, scrap books, and basically anything that allows me to write in. I love penning down my thoughts. I love planning my schedule. I love to write it down even with the convenience of an iphone/ipad.

So anyway, let me share with you my doings in the first week (plus or so) of January.

So happy that I got some stickers to play around with as well. Makes it so fun :)

Plenty of other designs. Check it out for yourself by clicking HERE!
This is such a great investment, I can’t stress enough how important planning and scheduling is. I’m using my diary to keep track of my day-to-day feelings. E.g. I had a happy day. Everything went well. OR E.g. Today, I feel horrible. Disgusting. Fat. I overate. I am not keeping to my resolutions.
HAHAHA :) just as an example. But of course, I write on a much more personal level.

Okay, love me for sharing something so amazing!

BYE :)

Travelogue: New York City, Day 3

Day 3 passed too quickly but it was good fun. We started the day at a good time. Headed down to Spring Street, Wall Street and Times Square, ended the day at East Villge. Christmas in New York City is like a dream come true. With my favourite boy, in my most favourite city on earth. How much more can I ask for right? :)

Play this song through. It will bring you some christmas cheer. I know Christmas is over and I’m quite laggy with my updates but looking at these pictures again, and listening to the carols just make me wish that Christmas would come all over again once more.

I love Christmas so much. Keeping close with those dear at heart in the winter cold! :) Jon said that our red couple mittens that we share remind him most of our trip. :)

400 broome street. my apartment last last summer. it was so nostalgic. almost wanted to run inside as if i was still staying there.

the familiarity is just killing me.

stopped by for lunch at the nonya place. jon had to fill his cravings for some good local delights. the chinese food in seattle is not thattt local. it’s mainly sweet and sour pork/chicken/fish. Think it may be hard to find some good wanton noodles/chicken rice/char kuay teow/roti prata here. thankfully we could get that in new york city.

as we were really close by to Little Italy, we stopped by for some canoli. its supposedly very famous.

jon was too full from lunch so i enjoyed this alone. I always have space for deserts.

walked through canal street and took the subway down to wall street.

the famous bull in wall street

the statue of liberty from a distance

met bryant later at times square. he said, ‘lets meet at the top of the red stairs!” and i knew just exactly where that would be. I was squealing in excitement the moment I stepped out of the subway station. The bright lights, the crowd, the buskers, it was just so times square. Walking through the crowd brought back extremely fond memories. And oh, about the red stairs.. that was excatly where huixiang, kelvin, mich, mike and the bunch of us sat through the night just before leaving New York City. We were overwhelmed with extreme sadness then, realizing that it was our last day there.

and yay finally spotted bryant. I was actually screaming at the top of my head, “BRYANTTTTTTTT!” and suddenly this crazy fella ran towards me with a big hug. OMG I SCREAMED.
He actually spotted Jon beforehand but told my fav boy to keep silent. :)

as it was close to dinner, we decided to stop by Junior’s for cheesecake.

it was extremely sinful but oh soooo soooo good. American size serving for sure.

Headed to East Village after that for some good Japanese food with Jon’s friends.

That was my Christmas. Simple and memorable.
Opened presents in the hotel room, and my fav boy got me a bag from Kate Spade! We actually recorded a video of us opening presents for our own keep sake. Watched it over and over again but I think I shouldn’t upload it here. It’s nice to just re-watch these videos we’ve taken in our free time :)

I’m halfway through my travelogue for my New York City trip! :)
Still ways to go because Mexico and Seattle follow.

My last day in Seattle tomorrow. Back in Singapore the day after. Boo.

With Love,
Mel

Travelogue: New York City, Day 1

Got this red cardigan from TTR. wearing it everywhere I go!!!!

2010. our home. a familiar place. SOHO. Lafayette.

Eileen’s Cheesecake. A frequenter there.

The most amazing cheesecakes on earth.

In the near distance. Lombardi’s. Spring Street.

From TTR :)

went shopping at Macy’s at 3am because I couldn’t sleep.

jon wrapped me up like a bao

shopping at 3am in the morning is just absurd.

We bought a kebab from one of the street side stalls and headed indoors to finish it up. It was just too cold outside. Headed back to the hotel real late, and I was finally tired enough to fall asleep. HATE JET LAG.

Anyway, before I go, here’s something I’ve wanted to share for a really long time. INHOUSEFASHION!

my fav boy was like, “oh come on. pose like a model..” because I said I was shy! Like hello, 9034238032 people coming in and out of the hotel clad in layers and layers of thick sweaters and I was in that little pretty black/white dress and heels. It was full fledged winter okay.

boom! so as soon as there was no one, I turned on my switch. But I know CMI la.

saw this little hole in the wall, and i think the first thing that went across my mind was “yes! a place to sit!” and to jon, it probably was, “great! this could make an artistic shot!” See, photographer jiu shi photographer.

as i got more and more comfortable, I actually fell asleep.

true story. but i’m not gonna share those pictures because they’re absolutely unglam.

Anyway, I really loveeeee this dress alot. And its not just some random colour block dress im going to add to my bursting wardrobe but it’s the cut of this dress. Not perfectly fitting but not outrageously baggy either. It’s a simple piece so I’m able to accessorize in almost any way I’d like.

Isn’t it gorgeous? :) Even when paired with a belt!

I’ve finally arrived in New York City!!!!
Bought a long black gown from Forever21. Haha definitely not on impulse okay. It was a nice dress. That’s my first loot!
Some pictures:

It was 11 degrees celsius when I touched down, but right at this moment it’s negative 1.

first day, and I am eating all my favourite food!!!! lombardi’s. eileen’s cheese cake. pinkberry. street side chicken kebab.
well, say HIIII to my favourite boy! :)

Anyway, I typed this out on the plane cos I was sooooo bored. So here it is, a copy and paste.
Really jet lag. It’s 6.30am in the morning and I haven’t slept. It’s Christmas Eve and I’m really excited:)

“So here I am, on a 13 hour plane journey, doing anything I possibly can to pass time. Been asleep for the last 5 hours and It is literally against the law of human science for me to shut my eyes anymore. Mind you, I slept through my first 6 hour flight from Singapore to Beijing. I feel quite well rested now and i just cannot wait to touch down.
The food I had during my stop over was horrid. In the 6 hours I had, I visited 3 different restaurants. From a cheapass local chinese fast food chain that cost me 5-6sgd per meal to a really atas one that was 37sgd. Both were equally shitty. Landed up at Starbucks finally.

Horrible Chinese food aside, My excitement is building. I can’t wait to step foot into the big apple. I think I may possibly just squeal and shed tears of joy upon landing. (okok not so melodramatic la). But speaking of being melodramatic, the last 30 min before on boarding my first flight was extremely drama. It started off with me having to apply for esta on the spot because i didn’t do so beforehand. Like come on, how on mars am I to know of such stuff? Had a visa on my last trip so all was settled for. So hey, if you’re visiting the states for a holiday and you’re without a visa, be sure to apply for esta! And just another word of caution, apply it directly through the main esta website so that it gets approved immediately. Because I applied through some third party (being oblivious again), it took a while before it got approved. In fact, they needed 24-72 hours. So that was the cause of all panic. I rung them up and asked them to expedite the process lest I miss my flight! Real annoying, but they were not able to issue the boarding pass without the esta number. Thank God it worked out eventually. Thats not all. Theres part 2 to my pre-flight drama story. I got slightly carried away with duty free, I misplaced my boarding pass and only figured it out when I was going to board. Started to panic like a panic queen (maybe I take over my mom, the number 1 kan cheong spider, hahaha). Then I realized that I actually slipped it into the envelop where I kept my cash. No idea why I did that because i’d always put it in between my passport. And true enough, I was one of the last to board. #likeaVIP. Okay, perhaps like a princess.. Andddddd, the two seats beside me were empty so I conveniently lay over the entire span of it. Really like a princess, but only economy class princess. Haha.

No vlog/anything during my stopover. It was frigging -9 degrees C! My feet felt like prunes the minute I got out of the plane. We had to get cut of the plane and into a bus shuttle to bring us to the terminal. The wind was so strong I could call it a typhoon then. I don’t think there was snow. Actually, maybe it was far too cold to snow. So biting cold that one could see the outline of a snowflake. Was tempted to just throw my luggage down the flight of stairs because I wanted to keep my bare hands in my pockets.

Anyway, right now.. I’m going to settle on the final bits of my itinerary :)
Jon’s gonna kill me because I planned it in a way that we are going to squeeze in about 5 meals per day. Shake shack will not be lunch but tea! (omggggg dying to whiff the smell of my favorite portobello mushroom burger with cheese on a beef patty, and my milkshake!!!!) korean fried chicken at ktown shall be our supper! Maybe we could karaoke or something for a while too!
First place I’m heading to will be lombardi’s!! Wish huixiang, mike, mich, anuskha. Kelvin, Jo and the bunch were gonna be there too! :(

Okay, really wordy entry. Will update again very soon :)

Before I run, here’s a mini advertorial to spice up the festive season! thread theory!!!!!!
A few asked on my formspring where I got the tube top I wore in the pictures with the blazer below. AND THERE YOU GO: Thread Theory!

I paired the top with a black ruffled skirt and a huge necklace for my relative’s wedding last weekend.

hehe love you fat ku!

????

i know you might have gotten sick of our faces. just trying to prove how much Esther and I can cam-whore when we are together. the last time we went to Hokkaido together, we stocked up a few hundred pictures each.

quite coincidental that our outfits happen to match.

Btw, this tube top i’m wearing is called the Aztec Vortex Tube Top! :) I had to alter it because it was too big, but now it fits perfectly! In fact, it’s one of my favourite pieces because I love the geometric prints!

SHOP AT THREADTHEORY TODAY! They carry bags too, all really pretty!

I’m going to try catch some sleep now.

Goodbye, with love,
from the big apple.

90 days of summer

I knew this would happen—that my bandwidth was going to exceed, but I just kept adding the photos one by one to test my luck. Oops, rotten luck!
Sorry everyone, the pictures will be up by the 5th of July (that’s when my bandwidth resets)! Received some emails that requested me to write more stuff in my blog, rather than just post pictures. I know I’m damn lazy, but I’ll try my best to pen my thoughts and feelings as and when I can. Its nice to know that people actually enjoy reading my rants and stuff (or that people actually do bother to read them).
Just to keep you updated, the past weekend was my LAST weekend in New York City. I know it sounds really sad, but I’m looking forward to going home a lot.
Photobucket
(skype with 92310802 different expressions, i’m capable of. but it was purely candid!)
I won’t deny that I’m going to miss New York City a lot. The slack evenings that I always look forward to, the very fun-filled weekends that we jam pack with activities. I am going to miss all the late nights, talking rubbish on skype with friends, and coming home after a shopping spree to show mommy all my purchases! I’m going to miss all the sinful cheesecakes, my favourite red velvet cupcakes with soft icing, lombardi’s pizza, the pasta from red brick, shake shack, Singapore café, big wong’s, nonya café, ippudo, menkuitei, the ramen place near my office, the Japanese bbq just right downstairs, texas hill grill, la esquina and PINKBERRY! I’m trying to plan my meals in a very organized manner, but I don’t know where to begin. In fact, there are some places that I haven’t even gotten to try yet like Artichoke Pizza, Paul’s, and so many more! I think even the Macdonald’s here serve nicer burgers than those in Singapore (the beef patties are just awesome!), and speaking of which, I love the berry milkshake thingy from Macs! I hope Singapore will have it some time soon. I’ve been cooking for my friends (Mich, Mike, Huixiang) dinner on most of the weekday nights to save money, and I think my ability to make-do while cooking has improved by leaps and bounds. Used to be soo stuck to recipes that every single inch/pinch/scoop would matter, but the last three months have allowed me to explore and inflate my culinary skills—fried the best egg omelet with cheese ever, simple fried chicken breasts, grilled pork chops which didn’t turn out bad, grilled and steamed fish fillets, my ever famous garlic vegetables (of all kinds), wanton noodles soup (which failed cos I was too lazy to boil my own soup, but used ready-made chicken broth instead), Japanese curry with carrots, potatoes and chicken (which turned out quite nice!), pasta (semi-fake aglio olio/ bolognese) and I’m going to experiment BAH KUT TEH tomorrow night!!
Sorry for the very long digress with all the food, but I get really excited talking/blogging all about it. In the last two weeks, apart from revisiting all the top favourite restaurants on my list, we gotta finish up all the frozen food in the freezer, and RICE (omg!) and PASTA! On the same note, New York City just celebrated Restaurant Week, where famous restaurants here that serve delicious cuisines prepared by celebrity chefs promote themselves by serving prix-fixie meals for a fraction of the original price. I didn’t go for any because it was still quite costly (approx 50-70 USD per meal). Some of my friends went for a Japanese meal, and they were raving about how it was the “best meal of their lives”. I used to call myself as self-loving, I think I’m also food-loving. I think I am capable of accumulating an entire album of food images! (: When I have the time, I will!
Just last Saturday, Joy joy and korkor Jed drove over to NYC from Washington DC for the weekend to support their friend for a triathlon. I spent the entire afternoon-evening shopping (and omg I spent another bomb!) I swore to myself that it would be my last splurge for this trip, hopefully it remains that way. Passed a sample sale designer shop, and apparently, their coats and dresses are directly imported from France. I fell in love with 2 coats but they were over a hundred bucks each. I bought them anyway. It doesn’t harm to have a few expensive pieces in your wardrobe right?
Dinner was way below my expectations. I expected better pasta from Little Italy. According to Korkor jed, the restaurant was rated 3 stars only!
Sunday was great, went for mass at transfiguration church near canal street. (for the last time, how sad!) I think I’ve grown to love that parish! Had to rush off right after mass to catch the bus to Atlantic City! Our plans to visit AC finally materialized!!!! AC is absolutely like how I perceived it to be from all the storybooks I read when I was younger. Just google “Atlantic City Images”! It was exactly like how it looks like in the pictures, if not nicer. Mich and I were commenting that the clouds and sky was exceptionally blue. Shopping outlets, the casino, and the beach! LOVES IT!!! This is the FIRST time I’m visiting a casino legally cos I’m finally 21!!! Had my ID checked countless times, but its okay, I was proud to show it to them. I didn’t intend to gamble cos I think I would be too nervous, but my very wonderful mommy said that she’d sponsor 100 bucks for me to try my luck and pass my time. I was very conservative so I kept like 50 bucks (worth of chips) into my pocket, and pretended as though I only had 50 bucks worth of capital. Started losing 30 and omg I had soo few chips left in my hand. I went to another table, and OMG I started winning. I had a blackjack and I won like 3 or 4 streaks in a row. I had 75 bucks in hand, and still the 50 safely kept in my pocket. Unlike the norm, I left and decided to change it all back to cash—happy and very contended with that 25 bucks.
I guess different people have different risk appetites. Huixiang changed 600 bucks. He sat at the poker table the entire day, while mich and I shopped at the outlets (:
OH WHAT AN AWESOME SUMMER IT IS! I’m looking forward to Toronto this coming weekend!
Stay tuned for more updates!

Would fireworks fly? Woud angels sing with lollipops? Would dinosaurs cry?

FRITZIE IN TOWN!!!! :)

Confessions of THE shopperholic (PART II

This time around, i tried my best to take it slow. I didn’t behave like some crazy woman running from place to place, grabbing the bags and wallets as though they were free, and splurging on myself/everyone around me as though money fell from the sky, but still, i spent a BOMB. I don’t know how.
The sales items are absolutely irresistible, nobody that has never been there will never ever possibly be able to understand what i really mean. i felt as though the shopping devil in me was unleashed as soon as i stepped foot onto woodbury.
it’s my third time there to date, and i wouldn’t deny that i have lost the thrill of outlet shopping. i didn’t jump out of my seat as soon as the bus halted at the drop-off point, my eyes didn’t glisten like it always did.
I SWEAR, i took my own sweet time from place to place, so that i’ll suffer less damage in my pockets.

I learnt my lesson, from the bruises, and scratches from all the buys i had to sling over my stick thin arms, I BOUGHT MYSELF A NEW LUGGAGE TO KEEP EVERYTHING.

The luggage did serve me very well, it was so much more convenient to move from place to place. I could just dump my luggage at the corner of a shop and browse with at the stuff with a peace of mind. The last time I was there, I had to count my bags each and every single time i left it on the floor in case a single bag got missing.

Even with my new Samsonite luggage, it couldn’t fit every single thing.

okay this looks really really crazy.
I splurged quite a bit at Armani. Got myself a trench coat, a hot pink bubble tube dress, a colourful graphic designed dress, a whole load of lingerie, Calvin Klein, nike dunks, a gap maxi dress and more.
I havent really accounted for my expenses to date, cos i’m really afraid of finding out the total amount I spent. I hope mommy isn’t reading this, otherwise she’s going to spam my inbox with a really long email.

I got sooo excited at my purchases when I got home, i skyped with mommy immediately to justify why each and every single thing i bought was worth the money :) HER EXPRESSIONS WERE PRICELESS.
i love to evaluate my buys at the end of every spree that way. its somewhat a mini consolation for myself!
